2010 Symposium on Food and Agriculture Security
On October 18-20, 2010, the Partnership sponsored the Symposium on Food and Agriculture Security at the Monona Terrace Convention Center in Madison, Wisconsin.  The theme for the Symposium was Taking the “Target” off the Food and Agriculture Sector. Over 230 representatives from federal, state and local government, together with industry came from 30 states and Canada to network and share ideas to reduce threats, minimize impacts, and quickly recover from a food and agicultural security event.  As a critical infrastructure, the food and agriculture sector consitute one-sixth of the U.S. gross domestic product (GDP) - over a trillion dollars a year.  A food/agriculture security event would have economic, social, and psychologicial impact.
